Brenda M. Cacucci, MD, FACS, FASMBS
Brenda M. Cacucci, M.D., an Indiana native, is a board certified general surgeon specializing in bariatric surgery and advanced minimally invasive/laparoscopic surgery. She is a graduate of Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. Dr. Cacucci earned her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and completed her surgical residency training at St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She has been in private practice for over 18 years.
Dr. Cacucci performs a wide variety of laparoscopic bariatric procedures, including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, revisional bariatric surgery, gastric adjustable gastric banding, and robotic-assisted bariatric surgery. She also performs gastric balloon and gastric outlet reduction procedures. In addition, Dr. Cacucci performs an array of minimally invasive general surgery procedures. Including: esophageal and diaphragmatic hernia repair with/without Nissen fundoplication for reflux, ventral and inguinal abdominal wall hernia repair, gallbladder removal, appendectomy, intestinal adhesions, as well as, skin and subcutaneous lesions.
Dr. Cacucci is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is board certified with the American Board of Surgery. Currently Dr. Cacucci is the President of the Medical Staff at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital having served on the Medical Executive Committee for 8 years. Dr. Cacucci is also a member of the American Society for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery and serves as the Indiana Access to Care Representative for the society. She is the Medical Director at the St. Vincent Bariatric Center in Carmel, IN. Other professional societies include: Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), Indiana State Medical Association, American Hernia Society and Association of Women Surgeons.
Dr. Cacucci and her colleagues are involved in obesity research and have multiple publications and presentations in conjunction with the St. Vincent Bariatric Center in Carmel, IN. The St. Vincent Bariatric Center and its surgeons are accredited by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).
