History
In July of 1993, Dr. Margaret Inman became a partner in Eagle Highlands General Surgery. The general surgery practice focused mainly on bariatrics through the WinLife program at Winona Hospital. The group practiced at Methodist Hospital, St Vincent Hospital, Women's Hospital and Winona Hospital.
In October of 2001, Dr. Inman started her own company and the name was General Surgery of Central Indiana. Her practice grew rapidly and in July of 2002, Dr. Christopher Evanson joined her in practice. Dr. Evanson's training in advanced laparoscopic surgery influenced Dr. Inman to forge ahead and the group started doing laparoscopic bariatric procedures. In November of 2002, Dr. Evanson performed the first Lap-Band Adjustable Gastric banding procedure at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital. Dr. Inman and Dr. Evanson performed over 500 bariatric surgeries in 2005. In May of 2005, Dr. Inman performed the first Duodenal Switch surgery. She is the only surgeon in Indiana performing this surgery. The practice continued to grow and looking to the future, it was decided to move the office to Carmel so that our bariatric population would have easier access to the services at St Vincent Bariatric Center of Excellence and the Clarian program. In addition, as of December 2005, the doctors began to participate in the Clarian Hospital Bariatric Program. In April of 2006, the practice moved to a new 4200 square foot office located in the new Clarian North Medical Center office building. With the move, the group was renamed Meridian Surgical Group.
